Legacy gift
Donating through your will, or a legacy gift, is the most common kind of planned giving.
A will, preferably done with a notary, is easy to prepare, simple to manage and guarantees your property will be distributed exactly as you wish.
In addition to providing financial security for your loved ones, a will made before a notary offers you the chance to support the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal by bequeathing a portion or all of your property or the residue of your estate.
It is important to understand that a legacy gift need not be in cash. It could be comprised of publicly listed securities or a life insurance policy, for example.
Here are the clauses most commonly used by notaries and lawyers:
- I bequeath to the Fondation Institut de gériatrie de Montréal, province of Quebec, Charitable Registration Number: 101835155RR0001, the sum of $____________, in order to support the Foundation it its activities.
- I bequeath to the Fondation Institut de gériatrie de Montréal, province of Quebec, Charitable Registration Number: 101835155RR0001, ___________% of all movable and immovable property which makes up my estate in order to fund the Foundation in its mission to support the IUGM.
